The former additive manufacturing division of BASF has formally relaunched under the brand name Forward AM.
Managing director, Martin Back, said the newly renamed business would be “the leading independent global provider of additive manufacturing materials and solutions”. BASF launched its original 3D Printing Solutions operation in 2017 after acquiring all the shares in the Dutch 3D filament manufacturer Innofil3D.
The following year, the chemicals group also acquired Hamburg-based Advanc3D Materials, and French company Setup Performance. Collectively, these businesses became BASF Forward AM in 2022 and brought Martin Back in as chief executive.
Mr Back’s own-named turnaround company has now acquired this part of the BASF business and is now relaunching under the Forward AM name.
“Our vision is simple yet ambitious,” he said on announcing the relaunch, “to shape a future where additive manufacturing is integrated into every facet of industrial manufacturing, complementing and optimising traditional methods.”
