Red Wing Shoe Company has announced the closure of its subsidiary, Vasque, a prominent outdoor footwear brand established in 1964. Known for popular hiking boots such as the Breeze (pictured) and Satoru Moc, Vasque earned multiple editor’s choice awards and was regularly featured in gear guides.
In a statement, Red Wing described the decision as “difficult,” citing significant changes in the market. "What consumers seek and how they shop has changed dramatically," the company stated, concluding there is no “viable path forward.”
Despite efforts to simplify its product line and boost sales, Vasque struggled to recover from declining demand. Red Wing has not specified when the brand will officially close but said the Vasque website will remain operational for the time being.
