Bata India recently reported a 63% increase in its first-quarter profit, ending a streak of four consecutive quarters of declining profits, according to Reuters.
The company's consolidated profit for the quarter ending June 30 rose to 1.74 billion rupees ($20.7 million), up from 1.07 billion rupees ($12.7 million) during the same period last year. This substantial profit increase was primarily driven by a one-time gain of 1.34 billion rupees ($15.9 million) from the sale of property.
However, Bata India experienced a slight decline in revenue from operations, which fell to 9.45 billion rupees ($112.6 million). Meanwhile, total expenses increased by approximately 6%, reaching 8.78 billion rupees ($104.6 million).
Bata India markets brands such as Hush Puppies and North Star in the Indian market.
