Outdoor footwear, clothing and equipment group Columbia Sports has reported revenues of just over $1.3 billion for the first six months of 2024. This represents a decrease of 7% compared to the same period last year.
Revenues from sales of apparel, equipment and accessories were just under $1.1 billion, a fall of 3% compared to the first six months of 2023. However, the decline in revenue from footwear sales was much sharper.
Columbia said it had achieved revenues of $257.2 million from footwear sales over the period, a fall of 20% year on year.
In terms of geographical split, its revenues in its home market, the US, were $814.6 million, down by 11%. For Europe, the figure was $208.4 million, down by 1%. It reported revenues from sales in Latin America and Asia together, putting the figure at $238.2 million, making these the only markets in which Columbia recorded growth over the period with a rise of 4%.
Its biggest brand, Columbia, had revenues of just under $1.2 billion, down by 5% year on year. For Sorel, there were sales of $66.7 million, but this represented a decline of 32%.
There was growth at Mountain Hardwear, where revenues rose by 11% to reach $47.9 million.
