The city of Wenling in China’s Zhejiang province played host to its second-ever Children’s Shoes Festival over three days in early December.
A series of events along Chengbei Street and Xingda Road paid tribute to the 5,600-plus shoemakers resident in Wenling, among which more than 1,200 focus solely on kids' footwear, local media said. This figure represents 18% of the country’s total when it comes to children's shoe production. Activities included experiential workshops and games like “shoe Monopoly”, educational flash mobs and more.
On the first day, December 2, Zhejiang Jimixiong Children’s Products presented 1,000 pairs of commemorative footwear designed by students from nearby Taizhou Vocational College of Science and Technology.
The institution inaugurated its new children’s shoe design and manufacturing service centre that same day.
