JD Sports has finalised the acquisition of French sneaker retailer Courir in a €520 million deal, following approval from the European Commission.
Courir operates 323 stores across France, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Luxembourg, alongside 36 franchise locations in North West Africa, the Middle East, and French overseas territories.
The acquisition is part of JD Sports’ strategy to expand its presence in Europe and diversify its customer base, particularly by targeting a more female, fashion-conscious, and older demographic. As a condition of the European Commission's approval, JD will divest 15 Courir stores in France and six in Portugal to German retailer Snipes by Q1 FY26.
In 2023, Courir reported €725.8 million in revenue and €50.3 million in profit before interest and tax.
