Athletic footwear and clothing group JD Sports has reported half-year revenues of more than £5 billion, which the company has said is a record.
The figure reflects revenues for the 26-week period ending August 3, 2024, and is an increase of 5.2% compared JD Sports’s revenues for the same period a year earlier.
At the end of the reporting period, the group had 1,951 stores, 430 of them in its home market, the UK, 585 in the rest of Europe, 275 stores under the JD name in North America and, in the same geography, a further 569 Finish Line stores. It also has 92 stores in Asia.
Chief executive, Régis Schultz, said that a new acquisition in North America just before the end of the reporting period would be “another key milestone” for the group. It acquired Alabama-based company Hibbett, which has 1,169 stores under the Hibbett and City Gear names across 36 US states.
Commenting on the results in general, Mr Schultz said: “We have reported record interim results, underscoring our ability to outperform the sector in a volatile global marketplace. Our success is a direct reflection of the strength and agility of our global, multi-brand strategy, which allows us to adapt swiftly to fast-changing industry trends across the world.”
