These new rules, set to take effect on August 21, 2024, significantly increase duties on imported goods. The duties on shipments valued over €30 have been raised to 30 percent for items from European Union countries and 60 percent for items from other countries, making online sales more challenging.

As a result, Nike stated that it cannot guarantee timely or problem-free delivery of orders in Turkey, leading to the temporary suspension of online sales. Despite this, Nike products will still be available in the country through physical stores and retail partners. The company has committed to attempting delivery of orders placed before August 9 but warned that customs clearance issues may arise.

Nike has said it will continue to monitor the situation and inform customers of any order cancellations.
