The Portuguese Footwear Technology Centre’s (CTCP) Life GreenShoes4all project is one of three finalists in the European Union’s (EU) LIFE awards.

The LIFE awards is an EU funding instrument for the environment and climate change, with the goal of celebrating projects in the fields of nature protection, circular economy and quality of life and climate action.

The Life GreenShoes4all project aims to develop eco-design, recycling and production solutions to reduce the footprint of the footwear sector.

It will implement rules for the categorisation of the ecological footprint of products, establish innovative eco-design concepts and ecological production processes for the manufacture of footwear with a high potential for transfer to other sectors (i.e. leather goods, clothing, etc.), and test new recycling approaches in the value chain to reduce the amount of raw materials and waste production.
